Description
A documentary photograph. These are two people that were at a brain tanning seminar I attended in the mountains of New Hampshire. They are visiting as the man works on softening and sewing a recently tanned hide. I met folks from all over the United States here and this man was a seaweed merchant from Penobscot Bay in Maine. All gathered for weekend of busy labor and the sharing of an old world trade, Brain tanning hides. Making a soft and usable buckskin from a hide of an animal, the old world and natural way.

How extraordinary to keep such old traditions of the Old way of life and the Far West alive. A remarkable witnessing! L/F
