Mount Liberty (elevation 4450) and Mount Flume (elevation 4327) are off of Rte 93 North going through the Franconia Notch of the White Mountain National Forest. The are both a part of the Franconia Range on which the Appalachian trails scurry across the top and eventually connect Georgia to Maine via the trail. These are two of the oldest mountains dating back to over 400 million years ago when they were covered by sea. The rains that drain downwards from the peaks flow into the Pemigewasset River in Franconia Notch.
I happen to stop into see Flume and Liberty on a trek northbound during foliage season, I was lucky to capture the clouds converging towards the peaks on a clear fall day.
