This is an oil painting I did in Swampscott, Massachusetts during 1979. I was working as a graphic artist at Designers Eye for Rick Pierro in Swampscott, Massachusetts. I discovered this abandoned depot building during a lunch break and came back to paint it on my paint time. I was then attending Massachusetts College of Art. My major was painting and I was studying under George Nick, an American Realist and also influenced by Fairfield Porter and Edward Hopper during this time. Forms, light and value were the focus of many of my works at this time.
This is a detailed slide I have digitized to share with you. The painting was much larger. It was 28 x 40, yet this slide held the best detail for a scan. Long before the digital era for artists. I can not remember what happened to the painting.

Lovely image of the depot. We have a few that are similar in style here but they are yellow and white. Wonderful work. L/F

The light and value bring out the mystery and wonders of this little depot scene Nancy. You breathe life into your works. F/L.
