This is a photograph of a friend that has been in my life for many years. He was born in Mexico City and has taught me much about the culture and the communal ways of his heritage through the years of knowing him. His spirit is genuinely all heart although it would be hard to guess by this photograph. Never afraid of hard work yet a gentle heart. Here he has the spookiest eyes in response to a story he was overhearing at a tanning event. I could not help but enhance the photo which embellished his spooky eyes. I enjoyed working on this image after seeing a documentary of the life of the photographer Paul Strand. I do think this evening of photo work was influenced by his wonderful portrait photography. The light and monotone colors tell a story in itself.
