A Starling by the Sea
Poem and Photographic Rendition
By Nancy Griswold
This bird is not alone you see
It feels the mist from ocean air
And gentle breezes from the sea
Embrace her soul with cautious care
The bird does sing “I’m not alone,
I perch upon the strength of tree
And soar through foggy skies unknown
To dance in air so close to free
The grass makes a chorus in wind
The sun makes shadows for the seeds
And prey can not hide in upwind.
The hot air turns the grass to reeds.
I nest for my young on breachway.
I feast on the sunflower seeds.
My life is almost divine for the day
With nature as the friend in need”
So bird is not alone by sea.
Her family is a different form
And their laws are a truthful plea
Including great day of their swarm.

Wow. I am so moved by your poetry accompanying this beautiful photographic art. In fact, my first thought and feeling was loneliness, but your words totally changed that around for me. Outstanding beauty here.

I love the solitary and deep wondering feeling you have created with this image Nancy. F/L.
