A historical landmark in Campton, New Hampshire; the Blair Bridge was first built in 1869. It is 292 feet long and spans the Pemigewasset River. There was a bridge on this location built in 1829 but it burned down and then this covered bridge was built. The construction of the current bridge was brought about when a doctor trying to ford the river on horseback found the current too strong. The horse drowned, but the doctor was saved. The town voted to build a bridge immediately. This bridge was rebuilt in 1977 at a cost of $59,000. In 2011 it was closed again following a tropical storm in which a tree floating down the river damaged . It is now repaired reopened. One car can pass at a time.
