Early Spring Below Peaked Mountain in Piermont New Hampshire

I started painting this on location in early spring as I love examining landscape defoliated trees. I used a very limited earth toned color palette (no greens) and painted for 2.25 hours. It was new experiment on the raw linen color of the stretched fabric. LAter I tweaked it and added detail in my workroom studio.
I drive by Peaked Mountain frequently and it strong shape has always been appealing. It’s elevation is 1, 568 feet and it seems to burst from the landscape like an upright mound. There is a ski mobile trail to a view that I have not yet taken as I am told that most of the property is private near this mountain and Peregrine falcons sometimes nest on its impressive cliff face. Peaked Mountain is visibly a landmark to the small village of Piermont, NH (population 797 in 2017) which falls along the Connecticut River Valley in New Hampshire.
