Skirting the White Mountain Region is Jackson, New Hampshire. This is a quaint and picturesque town to visit. Along the side of Carter Notch Road in Jackson is Jackson Falls. I spent a late morning and early
afternoon at this site in October doing this plein air painting. I met many visitors from all over the states and abroad as well. This scenic area was also selected by two wedding parties for their photography this same day. It was fun to see the gowned women walking
amidst the woods and falls.
The falls run along the road of the historic district of Jackson, New Hampshire; which had the White Mountain region's grand resort hotels of the late 19th and early 20th century. There were 39 buildings at one time and now only 9 remain from that era. The Wentworth is still an elegant country inn today just up the road from these falls.
Jackson is a grand place to visit, even today.
