Monotone Still Life 1977
Artist
Nancy Griswold
Medium
Painting - Oil On Masonite Panel
Description
I painted this sketch around 1977 when I first entered Massachusetts College of Art and Design. I was studying oil painting with Katherine Porter from Maine. We made several oil studies on Masonite panels and she was structured with lessons of studying tonality before we entered into painting with color. This is one of the first oils I did in her class. I wanted to post some earlier works and I had a friend make some digital copies from old slides. This is many years before we entered into digital photography and home computer usage. All I have left for records of early work is slides.

Ha with a bit of dyslexia I read the word moonstone. I still connect this wonderful image with the word from the get go. The MONOTONE effect works so well here.
Nancy Griswold replied:
Thank you ever so much Randy and do forgive me for my mispellings too, thanks so much for looking at my really old work, I was thinking of removing it but still like to see some of my own timeline as a reminder of the journey.
