Above Franconia and looking east onto the White Mountains,
I painted this one afternoon behind the Sugar Hill Inn, Sugar Hill, New Hampshire.
I met a couple that was content to sit and watch me paint from a distance. We had
Conversation, shared emails and have been corresponding ever since. They live on the coast of Maine and were visiting the Whites. We shared the mutual memory of gazing upon this gorgeous mountain for a day and sharing healing from loss of family. The mountain rises to 5249 feet and is is alp-like in appearance. A popular peak to be climbed in the Whites, Mount Lafayette is nearly as challenging to hike as Mount Washington.

Someone once told me that the world contains 7 million different colors, and 4 million of those are greens. I don't know if it's true, but I like to believe it. This painting is a feast of different greens, Nancy, and the touches of orange light coming in on the right are sublime and perfect. like/f
Nancy Griswold replied:
Anne, thanks so much , I really love hearing from you about color...I determined for myself in painting that color is actually infinite, as the combinations of pigments and their amounts can never end. Like the stars, like the universe, the world of color stretches farther than one can ever imagined. :)
