Sawyer Mountain (992 ft), 12 x 16, oil on canvas, plein air. The mountain has a steep rock face and runs along Rte 5 in Fairlee, Vermont, I painted it from the other side of the Connecticut River in Orford, New Hampshire. It was a a short day, hot then windy, then sunny, then cloudy and cool. I lost the sun on the mountain shortly after I arrived. I painted until the sunset and the temperature dropped around 5-ish. It was finished it the studio and added the crows who were gathering in the field.
