The Homestead is a small 8 x 10 oil painting I made alla prima as I was experimenting with hand ground oil paints. This composition I made using many photographs I have taken locally here in Vermont combined with a little imagination. The saltbox architecture of the house is commonly found in our area as many of the homes are very old. I was happy I finally made a work with a person hanging laundry as many folks still do in the area I live in.
