This is a plein air oil sketch I did on location on Campton Mountain New Hampshire in Waterville Estates.
I was looking out a kitchen window during the end of another snowstorm in February. The woods are dense here and the excitement is waking up in the morning to tracks in the snow during the winter. I have seen more than one animal from the window including a very big black bear in the fall. One can barely see the other houses that are near, especially when the trees have foliage. It certainly is lovely during snow season, like a white blanket that covers all the worlds sins. It is quiet and peaceful or become bitter cold and windy. There is never a dull moment.

A revisit to this hint of mystery in the snowy woods Nancy. So beautifully painted with your special technique with snow. F/L.

Nancy, there is your wonderful snow in paint with the blues here and about. So much wonderful rhythm associated with the work. F/L.

The nice capture of winter mood! Sleepy, calm, cold, and beautiful!
Nancy Griswold replied:
Anna, thanks so much, such a nice comment, I look forward to the quiet of winter at times.

The rhythm of the tree trunks with this special building glowing and peeping in between reminds me of a person standing in the snow giving us a glimpse of their lives. Love this and that marvelous snow always Nancy. F/L.
Nancy Griswold replied:
