This is a print rendition I created of the village in the center of Campton, New Hampshire as I was thinking of winter season and recreation in this area of the White Mountains in New Hampshire. Campton is on the direct route to Waterville Valley which is a haven for winter sports and skiers. A lot of changes were made to create a nostalgic ambiance to this scene as this is an old country store. There is another image in this gallery that has a border and the title of the store which is just for cards.
As I do these images I am intrigued with historical facts I collect as I create the art. Some history on this building is that it was built around 150 years ago and always operated as a general store. It is on the old stagecoach route that would escort visitors to Waterville Valley, NH. At one time it housed the Post Office and was connected to the Campton Fire Station. It is told that calls on fires would come into the store itself and there is a switch in the butcher's area (now the Deli) that was used to sound the horn to draw firemen from the Beebe River area. Square dances where held on the second floor of the building every Friday night in the yesteryear days.

Thanks Randy, these were also made to help promote the little shops in our remote areas, a little token as visitors could go home with a card
