This painting was done in 1974 when I was studying under John Avakian of Boston the courses in color and design. At that time I was attending Mount Ida Junior College in Newton , Massachusetts for a degree in graphic design. Pop and Op Art was still being taught in both art history and studio courses. M C Esher and illusional art was also still popular during this time. This painting I made manually and it took hours of taping for the hard-edge design. I was creating two planes of optical illusion. One was and undulating surface, the other was an alternating staircase design.
The painting is now gone and I had this slide in my archives that I scanned to share this image. This work predates the digital age for artists.
