Card of Mister Grasshopper
Artist
Nancy Griswold
Medium
Painting - Oil Painting Detail
Description
This is an image for a note card. It is a detail from the panel The Rain Forest in the mural titled Changes of the seasons. The grasshopper is a figment of a friends imagination who wrote and recited a story about Gus the Grasshopper. Gus was a loner grasshopper with defects who proved his place in the world through saving lives of his fellows from a woodland fire in the story.
The Mural is titled Changes of the Seasons.
Changes of the Seasons is a mural painting in progress. It presently consists of seventeen 4 x 3 canvassed panels that join together to create an elongated picture image. Each panel is intended to stand alone a pictorial image, as well as being an integral part of the entire mural. The mural will make full circle so that there would be no beginning and no end to the image. This is one panel from the work in progress.
The mural is shown all together on these two web links, in case you would like to see it. I would like to get it permanently installed somewhere. I have shown it twice in shows, but now it needs a home. Every little dot of light on this wonderful grasshopper is revealed with your masterful paintbrush Nancy. Your use of varied greens in this image is wonderful. F/L.

Thank you so much Randy, I love to hear what you pick up on in my art, your keen artistic eye has awakened me to look at my own work a little differently, thanks always and for the F/L

Love, love, love him!!! Such strong detail and softness at the same time. I love how he looks right at me. His eye so so pronounced. I get the feeling that he is doing something he shouldn't or he is trying to hide. Fantastic.

awesome work Nancy, again amzing how these snipets can stand slone. Seems these panels would be so nice in a zoo or museum or children's setting. Great work, FV
Nancy Griswold replied:
Thanks Judy, such great ideas! It has shown publicly as the entire mural many times and attracted the youth too.
