Luncheon on the Broccoli By Buffet is somewhat inspired by the famous oil painting called “Luncheon on the Grass; a large oil on canvas painting by Édouard Manet created in 1862 and 1863 which depicts a female nude and a scantily dressed female bather on a picnic with two fully dressed men in a rural setting. The initial response in 1863 at the Salon in Paris was rejection. Today that painting is worth a fortune and noted as the leading painting to challenge the status quo of art shows in Paris making way for more modern art.
This veggie rendition just sort of happened, my muse was entertained as she worked and thought of the fun title to go with it; knowing it would refresh artists again on their art history.
This art would make a fun card and tote bag for a gardener and vegetable lover and even a great cook. There is a wide variety of reproductions offered including puzzles now on both websites.
