Description
The Rosa Rugosa is commonly known as the beach rose as the plants can be found along the ocean and ocean-side. They grow well in sandy soil and produce an after bulb known as the rose hip. Rose-hip tea is made from the rose-hip. These roses have a wonderful aroma. I have loved them since I was a child and would look forward to their blooms when I roamed the beaches of New England. Often they can be found as large hedges along old stone walls or along roadways at the coast. This plant grew well near a New England lake. Notice the morning dew on the petals, they love the humidity of the ocean or lakes.
