The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. This is a mask that resided in a barn of a collector in New Hampshire. I do not know the detailed story behind this, but it was a very appealing object to photograph. Notice all the shells embedded in this, it will give you an idea of the large scale of this art object.
