A plein air but looking out my window. It has been just cool and damp enough to look out the window instead of being outside for plein air painting right now..

This is a "record" oil sketch about this week of 4/15-17/ 2021, there are just so many birds everywhere, flocks of grackles, robins, red winged black birds, crows, and finches filling the tree tops and chattering all day. It reminds me of the movie called “The Birds”. They are migrating north again after being in the south all winter.

Then like me, on the warm days, the neighbors are out poking in the earth again, reviewing their gardens and clearing for planting. The trees are all sticks but buds are present on many. Then came the snow day, then lots of rain then and the birds seem to love hanging out here.

I experimented with a limited palate I wanted to try for mud season, naples yellow, cad orange, burnt sienna, burnt umber, raw umber, paynes grey and white
