Description
The name Pemigewasset comes from the Abenaki word bemijijoasek meaning where side, entering, current is. This river is 65 miles long and is in the state of New Hampshire. The river originates at Profile Lake in Franconia Notch and flows through the White Mountains. It is the most interesting river with protruding boulders and rocks along the edge and within the river. This is definitely one of my favorite places to visit in New Hampshire.
I shot this from a bridge overpassing the river in Thornton, NH. The water was low this season revealing the rocks below. In the far distance is the presidential range of the White Mountain National Forest. Mount Liberty is on the far right.
