A stormy and dark sky in the distance with the low autumn light bring intensity to the autumn colors as it does during foliage season in this quintessential Vermont-like landscape oil painting.

This is a studio painting I completed which combines a lot of my favorite places in New England during Autumn. I used parts of photographs I had taken for resource. Mount Chocoura, Jenne Farm, lake views with islands and sailboats, snow-capped mountains views, Hereford cows, maple trees, white birch trees and more.

This painting was chosen to be our feature group photo, because it highlights the great and serene beauty of America as a place to be celebrated. These reminders of days gone by before the Industrial Revolution and modern times where skyscrapers and huge dwellings began dotting the urban landscape, can be discovered even now tucked away in more remote places just off the beaten paths in New England on farmland in states like Vermont and New Hampshire. I especially love the symbolism of light penetrating and illuminating the scene after a storm, or even during, so that its beauty and serenity is not to be overshadowed or overtaken by darker days or even adversity. This, to me, is an absolutely gorgeous painting, not just because of its masterful rendering, but because the volumes it says or symbolizes even now in the midst of the aftermath of great hurricane destruction like the recent one of Hurricane Ida.”
