Vermont Cottage at Lake Ninevah, 32" x 24" I painted on location in October 1982. This is a large oil painting I created en plein air at this vacation cabin on Lake Ninevah, Mount Holly, Vermont. It was off a very remote dirt road in the middle of deep rolling hills of Vermont. I remember it was such a reprieve to escape the hot pavement of the city and go to Vermont. At this time I was a full time illustrator for Design News Magazine at Cahners Publishing in Boston, Ma.
This was a really rustic but quaint cabin. The lake it was on was spring fed and the water very cold as I remember capsizing in the canoe on the lake, the water was so cold! .
During my post art school years I was still influenced by the American Realists Edward Hopper, my instructor George Nick and others. The painting is still in excellent condition. I do not know if this cabin is still there today, but imagining that by now the population along this lake has grown and new houses have replaced the old. Notice the laundry line were I am drying a towel. Today I still hang my laundry out to dry and live in Vermont. Drinking water during the stay was carted from the local spring.
The original oil painting is now for sale and direct free shipping at: https://www.etsy.com/shop/NGARTSITE

Those shadows, those shadows, and always your dramatic and spectacular lighting effects. Those colors in the house caress nature around it. F/L.
Nancy Griswold replied:
Randy, thank you for noticing, I do love to work with the light. So appreciate the F/L!!
