There is a full painting version of this in my " Cards for Holidays and Occasions" gallery, this version I included the poem with the painting image.

I always wanted to paint my Christmas tree during the evening when the lights are on and it is so pretty. This painting pulled up on many memories from the ornaments to fun holiday chaos. I wrote a poem as I painted it:

A Christmas Story
A Little Poem & Oil Painting by Nancy Griswold

Oh muse of art, reveal to me
A story of love and security.

There was a girl
There was a boy
And all they felt
Was Christmas joy.

Along came dog
And then the cats
To see just where
Christmas was at.

Gifts of magic,
Lights of cheer,
Candles of love,
Mischief was near.

Beauty was quiet;
I heard the hearts.
The lights sparkled;
Peace did not part.

On top of tree
The star shown bright.
Their hearts grew big,
Thinking delights.

Mistletoe of love
Brought the two close,
A short reprieve,
Their eyes engrossed.

Christmas spirits,
For all who care.
Great tidings of joy,
To all who share

It’s time to end,
Muse longs for sleep.
Paints go in bags,
Good time was reaped.

14" x 11", oil painting on stretched linen comes framed in a plein air mahogany stained frame with outer dimensions 19" x 16"
